Observation 218789: Tricholoma caligatum group
When: 2015-10-13
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I was hoping these were matsutake, but they don’t seem quite right. They were growing in an area of mixed hardwoods and hemlock. They had a unique smell, but I would describe more as “subtle” than anything as distinct as is normally applied to matsutake. Also, they were growing in a group.
