I could hardly pick the booger with my fingers, and would have hard time figuring out any features in the field with this one.

Was the Hygrocybe viscid?

Andrew, I’m going to post a Hygrocybe in just a few minutes that looks very similar to yours here. This is a frighteningly frustrating group (the littlest ones) to pin down the specie on. My thinking is the scientist have a lot of work ahead doing DNA on this group and even then things might not be clear.

This critter is totally tiny, as you can see from the second photo.

It grew near, but not right next to, the bigger one, though, so I am not sure it’s the same species. The “giant” is about twice bigger than the “tiny”.
