Agaricus adscendens Lasch is listed as “Nom. illegit., Art. 53.1” at Index Fungorum, while Agaricus tenerrimus Berk. is listed as valid. This strongly points in the direction of Mycena tenerrimus being the correct name. Mike Wood has made the change on Mykoweb.

" I didn’t just blindly change the name,"

except in this particular case. Mycena adscendens (Lasch) M. Geest. and
Mycena tenerrima (Berk.) Quél. are considered synonyms and it is up to the Code experts to decide which of those two names should be used and which one will become a deprecated synonym.

That’s not strange

I am the identifier because I identified it from photos. If someone else identified it from the photos, they would be the identifier. I didn’t just blindly change the name, I carefully looked at all of the photos and decided that the features I was able to see matched the name I applied.

When Alan Rockefeller changed the name of this MO observation, he is given as an IDENTIFiER in the Tracking Alert. The term “identifier” implies that Alan SAW Gerhard’s collection.:

“Name changer” would be much better term than the “identifier”!

It takes a true mushroom hunter to find such minuscule beauty :)
