Varying characteristics of the original descriptions of Helvella lacunosa have been separated into different taxonomical names and species. See attachment below:

This collection represents characteristics of H.lacunosa, but with more compact, chambered stem and more dense(less free) spore bearing cap structure. Dull, rubbery grey stems, darker grey(almost black) caps. Caps are densely chambered and compact.

Fruiting in disturbed soil and gravel near a campfire.

Elevation: 1650ft.

Temp: 50’s.
