Notes: Growing on the ground with mixed conifers @ ~ 6000ft.
Caps up to 13.5 cm across.
Spores ~ 9.1-12.0 X 6.4-7.8 microns, ellipsoid(Qavg = 1.48) and moderately rough.
KOH on cap was medium brown.
KOH on flesh was yellow.
KOH on stem was pale yellowish.
UV was neg.
These were a little old and almost frozen. Because of that, I don’t know if Cortinarius caparatus can be ruled out.
