Observation 220060: Pholiota lenta (Pers.) Singer

When: 2015-10-15

Collection location: Bear Creek, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

On the ground in oak woods, but not far from a group of pines.

At first I thought these were a species of Hebeloma, but spores are small (didn’t measure, but apparent maximum length well under 10 mu) and lacking the amygdaliform shape expected with at least some Hebeloma species.

Partial veil cortinate.

Cystidia pictured are from a smash mount of gill material in KOH.

Spore print dull brown.
