Collection location: near Bumping Lake, Washington, USA [Click for map]
Soft and cheesy growing edge. This conk has been living on this same log and monitored for over a season now. Note, in macro images the pores are clearly visible. F.pinicola and other Fomitopsis species are much denser in pore structure-hard to see with the naked eye.
Both conks on same substrate.
On fallen Old growth Douglas fir.
Temp: low 40’s.
