Observation 220126: Laricifomes officinalis (Batsch) Kotl. & Pouzar

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Soft and cheesy growing edge. This conk has been living on this same log and monitored for over a season now. Note, in macro images the pores are clearly visible. F.pinicola and other Fomitopsis species are much denser in pore structure-hard to see with the naked eye.

Both conks on same substrate.

On fallen Old growth Douglas fir.

Elevation: 2700ft.

Temp: low 40’s.
