Observation 22032: Helvella vespertina Nguyen & Vellinga
When: 2005-03-01
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This is the first mushroom that looked so freaky that I HAD TO know what it was.

I noticed this Helvella shortly after being totally disgusted and amazed by the spongy underside of a Suillus earlier that day, and so I took my first horribly distorted mushroom photo!

I found the photo buried in my inbox, titled “Ew”.
