Notes: Third growth fir plantation forest – but on an original old growth log. Big, maybe doug fir. Cheesy like pore layer. White chalky interior of older sample. Bitter taste. The older sample was harvested – brought in several years ago and was unproductive (dead). The newer polypore budded about two feet from where the original conk was. Last year it was all white and over the summer developed the light tan zones around the outside edge. Then started what appears to be successive growth spurt late this summer/fall.
