Observation 220919: Pisolithus Alb. & Schwein.

Found adjacent (6-13’ away) to 40’ Port Orford cedar; but also quite close to 60’ beech tree. While all examples of Pisolithus located today were under the cedar, the beech was tall and extensive, and could easily have been host. And yet…

Alternate photo which was bleached out by using flash. Still, shows peridium (gray) and gleba with peridioles. The surface of the Pisolithus had been kicked, and most of the sporocarp was hypogeous.
