Observation 221872: Clitocybe fragrans (With.) P. Kumm.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Fruiting beneath Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine.

Elevation: 3600ft.

Temp: low 30’s.

NOTE: Smells pungently of Anise- like black licorice.

J hooked stems on most young specimens. Somewhat tan and translucent.

Gills: Slightly decurrent into stem(as with most Clitocybe sp.). white/cream, translucent.

Cap: dimpled in center, expanding to near plane at maturity. Creamy white, to pale tan. Translucent.
