Observation 221876: Cystoderma fallax A.H. Sm. & Singer

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Fruiting beneath Western hemlock and young mountain hemlock saplings. Multiple small riparian trees intermixed. Alder, cottonwood.

Completely rain soaked and sans isidia covered skirt-as with young, dry specimens. Black smooth stem beneath orange spores. Usually when you find these in late summer they have a complete covering of powdery dust(think small P. aurea mixed with a lepiota and shrunken).

Elevation: 3700ft.

Temp: low 30’s.
