Observation 222166: Nidula candida (Peck) V.S. White
When: 2015-10-30
(42.6351° -82.5001° )

Notes:
Bird’s nest in sandy soil
timpani covering, light-coloured eggs, smooth inside and (relatively) out, mucilage around eggs; outer edge of nest flaring open; immature ones stout club shape

Keys make distinctions between this and Crucibulum laeve by if the eggs are attached to the inside of the nest by a “cord”. I picked out a couple eggs from mature dried specimens and found a short stalk (is it perhaps not a “cord” per se, or maybe not actually attached to inside of nest). Anyway, there was mucilage so I think this is an easier character to assess.
