Gomphidiaceae as possible Suillus parasites

“It has become clear in recent years that members of the Gomphidiaceae, such as Chroogomphus, may primarily be parasitic on Suillus and Rhizopogon species, and their hyphae are often found within mycorrhizae of Suillus and Rhizopogon (Agerer 1990; Olsson et al. 2000).”

That’s quite an interesting hypothesis…

about the Chroogomphus parasitizing the Suillus.

I’ll allow the “mixed collection” proposal to stand, as it invites one to further explore the details of this observation.

Yes, it’s intentional

The Chroogomphus is included because it is parasitic on this Suillus. S. salmonicolor sounds good, pending the outcome of DNA testing.

includes a Chroogomphus. Not sure if this was intentional.
