of “Cystoagaricus silvestris” looks a lot closer to the figure anyway. This might be a different species than that one. Maybe a different genus too.

Just skimming this. Looking more closely now and searching some of the new combinations, it turns out that Cystoagaricus hirtosquamulosus, which looks pretty similar and has been considered a synonym is also present in North America. I’ll change my observations of Cystoagaricus silvestris to Cystoagaricus pending microscopy.
