Notes: A single specimen fruiting in grassy area (presumably on buried roots) near a decayed tree stump. Cap: 5.5 cm. Stem: above ground — 5.5 cm. X 5 mm. at apex and 8 mm. at base, strong, stiff, silky, bruising reddish-brown near tap root. Tap root was longer than seen in photograph but, unfortunately, it snapped off underground as I was digging it up. White spore print.
