Can’t figure out tree species the log is from – some type of oak?

Bark has very deep fissures, and comes off (at this point in the rotting process) like puzzle with pieces separating from one another. The fungus is thick and woody, similar to Phellinus, although forming shelves in some locations on the log (entire log – several meters long – is covered with this fungus underneath).
