Observation 22273: Austroboletus lacunosus (Kuntze) T.W. May & A.E. Wood

When: 2009-06-02

Collection location: Central Station, Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia [Click for map]

Who: Roy Halling (royh)

Specimen available

There is some discussion in the literature (Horak, Watling) that A. novaezelandiae may be a later synonym for A. lacunosus. This still needs to be sorted out by comparison of the types with recently collected material from Australia.
Herbarium material at BRI & NY (REH9123).

Used references: The nomenclature is most complicated. If after checking MO under A. lacunosus and A. novazelandiae and you still can’t get the hang of it, send me an email. After looking at specimens (types and what not), it took me awhile to figure it out.
