Notes: Habitat – sandy soil, near lake, under slash pine. (see photo)

Smell – mild
Taste – did not

Staining – none from cutting

Chemical Testing:
___10% KOH__ Immediately Cap context darkening to Burgundy wine color, very dark at pore cap interface, becoming darker gray after 10 minutes
___10% Iron Salts__ Immediately Cap context, darkening to grey quickly, very dark at pore interface
10% Ammonia Immediately turning wine reddish in cap context and in pores. Darkening more over time.

CAP: surface smooth – tacky – touching a piece of cap will lift it off the paper when the finger is raised. Conditions were dry and sunny although the mushrooms were in the shade at the base of the pines. Dimensions of cap and pores, see photos.

STEM: with dots and ring. Rooted
