In Europe we have Sawadaea bicornis (=Uncinula) only (on Acer campestris and pseudoplatanus). On Acer negundo and Acer platanoides there occurs S. tulasnei.

One species that is common to Bigleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) (and other Maples)is Uncinula bicornis. The powdery white mycelium cover the leaf surface in hot weather usually in a dry September, but with this years lack of rain we are seeing it in June. However, there are many other species of Powdery Mildew and it could be one of those.
