Notes: Found in a swampy mud puddle back east. cool color. Never seen one of these in California.

I think this is probably Mitrula

Possibly Mitrula elegans, although they don’t usually have a dark stipe, the stipe is distinct, whereas clavariadelphus ligula does not have a differentiated stipe. Refer to obsevation 7843. Also the fact that you found it in swampy ground would support Mitrula species
