Notes: Massive stroma: fertile portion ~ 7 × 1.5 cm, stipe ~ 2 × 0.5 cm
Stromatal color: blackish to light gray upon drying
Perithecia completely immersed with small ostiolar openings found throughout fertile portion of stroma. Surface of stroma smooth to slightly wrinkled, no cracking.
No good notes on interior when fresh.

Spores: (37.3-)39.3 – 46(-50.8) x (6.7-)7.1-8.5(-9) μm ; germ slit full length and spiral-shaped
