Habitat: in large groups and clusters near hardwood stump.
Identification based on: beige, striate, conical cap becoming plano-umbonate with splitting, lighter margin in age, cap also covered with mica-like white granules, adnexed gray gills becoming black and deliquescent, white, hollow stipe, and smooth, ellipsoid spores with central germ pore that are black in deposit.
