Notes: On La Panza Road, 2.9 miles north of Highway 58, about 6 miles southeast of the town of Creston
Habitat is dry open blue oak (Quercus douglasii) woodland with grassland mosaic.
Substrate is bark on dead blue oak branches.
Large grey foliose lichen with large apothecia with brown disks. Thallus upper surface with many black pycnidia. Upper cortex K+Y, C-. Medulla white, K-, C+R (fleeting). Underside black, with dense simple black rhizines. Apothecia large, laminal, with brown disks and rarely marginal rhizines.
Occurred with Flavoparmelia caperata, Physcia aipolia and Candelaria pacifica.
