Observation 223942: Porphyrellus E.-J. Gilbert
When: 2015-11-26

Notes: Please view MO Obs. 223434, as this is a follow-up of a find and loaded Obs 6 days ago. The results for 6 days difference is amazing, as I did not have expectations of much from the several immature specimens left in situ at time of first location (MO Obs 223434). May allow better ID than Bolettellus. I was really surprised how large the fungi had grown. (some as big as bread plates {6.5 inches across the face} ) Not sure if I have ever loaded this species before either?!.. The last image also displays a green tinge band at the top of the stipe in a younger specimen. The larger fungi spore colour seems to be brown, and the colour visually of the tubes appears to be a copper sulphate colour or Verdigrease colour overall with maturity..?

I have seen this kind of thing in what I call P. brunneus in Queensland. Go here. Mushroom on left side. See description. Thanks, Ian.

Roy, (link you provided), Surely looks close. What do you think about the greenish band near the top of the stipe, on the lesser mature specimen? This seems unusual also… to me~~?

This Obs and the previous one, look to be another Poprhyrellus. It looks very similar to one I have seen but on only two occasions in Davies Creek Nat’l Park in No. Queensland. I’ll find an image shortly. Thanks, Ian!
