Recognized by sight: Stipe base is bulbous but not volvate, annulus is more bandlike than skirtlike, cap margin is slightly appendiculate, habitat in fall in a grass lawn is perfect for L. leucothites. Growth under deciduous oaks in fall is atypical for A. ocreata.
