B. rubripes?

Me thinks the Sierran Spring Boletus rubripes is more likely as
it is known to fruit in the Spring. B. calopus var. frustosus
comes up later, like between Aug-Oct. The lack of reticulations
is also a primary id feature of B. rubripes, although that those
B. calopus var. frustosus are not very easy to see either…
