Observation 22623: Polyporales sensu lato

When: 2009-06-28

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

It’s a gilled polypore, but it’s not clear which one.

It physically resembles Daedaleopsis confragosa, but is on pine. Gloeophyllum sepiarium is hairy and grows on pine, but is ordinarily red/orange rather than grey.

Found in Zone 09, mixed woods not far from the super-diverse Zone 11 but nowhere near as spectacular.
