No herbarium specimen

Notes: The presence of a remarkably dry-looking patch of mulch at the base of this oak drew my attention because the day had been one of copious downpours. It revealed many tiny little fruiting bodies.

I collected some of these fruiting bodies and brought them home to finish developing in some moist compost, and voila! the eggs appeared in the nest.
