Notes: Found growing in a little finger of land where two creeks come together under beech. There is a powdery substance that adheres to your hands from the stem. The stem has small like scales as dose the cap., The volva is very sac like. The spore print white.

This is a species of sect. Amidella, not sect. Lepidella….

This is probably Amanita pseudovolvata Tulloss nom. prov. …see the Great Smoky Mountains and/or New Jersey Pine Barrens checklists. We just identified this fellow in east Texas.
