Observation 23018: Fomitopsis cajanderi (P. Karst.) Kotl. & Pouzar

When: 2009-07-08

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

This is probably the same polypore species as in http://www.mushroomobserver.org/22840 but I still have no idea what it is. What I do know is that it’s rather difficult to get decent pore shots, and it exudes moisture after wet weather.

This fungus was on deadwood, probably pine, in Zone 05; the specimens in 22840 were on similar wood, probably pine, in adjacent Zone 04.
