Observation 23061: Amanita Pers.

When: 2009-07-07

Collection location: Sunriver, Deschutes Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Nathan Wilson (nathan)

Specimen available

The habitat was pine forest (mixed Lodgepole, Pinus contorta subsp. murrayana and Ponderosa, Pinus ponderosa).

I would put this close to Amanita gemmata, but I know that this group is not well characterized in the western US. The cap was a very light yellow color, but I did notice light pinkish stains on the stipe, in the flesh (around worm holes) and a bit in the cap. Cap was approximately 5cm across.
