It looks like an overly deep polypore. Specimen growing from a cut root of a Noble fir. Specimen is about 2 inches wide and at least 2.5 inches deep and thick.

Certainly possible. Not like most Fomitopsis I am aware of.

Maybe some sort of Fomitopsis?
