Observation 23119: Volvariella bombycina (Schaeff.) Singer

No herbarium specimen

Notes: There is nothing subtle about this large white mushroom that sprouts from wounds in hardwood trees, frequently at eye level. I spotted this one from 100 yards. They are supposed to be edible, but whenever I find them they are full of bugs.
