Observation 23303: Laccaria laccata (Scop.) Cooke
When: 2009-07-17
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Found by itself on ground in moist spruce forest near wetlands. Mycelium at base of stalk was faintly lilac when fresh, but very quickly faded to white. No other hints of purplish color seen. Spore print failed (of course), but spores are broadly elliptic to nearly round and minutely spiny, 6.7-7.9 × 5.8-6.8 µm (Q=1.04-1.16). Cap was minutely scurfy, and stipe was distinctly twisted-striate. Gills flesh-pink, thick, and somewhat decurrent.
