Observation 23400: Russula Pers.
When: 2009-07-21
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Abundant short gills, no latex, in somewhat damaged condition in Zone 08. Not much else around but Pinus resinosa, possibly Pinus strobus, and underbrush, but it was within 10-20 meters of the Zone 11/08 boundary, on the far side of which are old hardwoods, particularly Populus tremuloides. There’s the odd younger P. tremuloides closer by as well.
