Observation 23400: Russula Pers.

When: 2009-07-21

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Abundant short gills, no latex, in somewhat damaged condition in Zone 08. Not much else around but Pinus resinosa, possibly Pinus strobus, and underbrush, but it was within 10-20 meters of the Zone 11/08 boundary, on the far side of which are old hardwoods, particularly Populus tremuloides. There’s the odd younger P. tremuloides closer by as well.
