was critical in this instance. The well-fertilized flower bed suggests some type of manure may have been present. P. vesiculosa is readily available locally where it is frequently found growing on ZooDoo, a fertilizer made from dried elephant dung at the Portland Zoo. I have also seen it growing in great masses at my father’s farm in the Willamette Valley on rotting hay and straw bales.
