No herbarium specimen

Notes: This mushie was found on a foray, but the species was not conclusively identified.

~ Habitat:
Manasquan Reservoir, Central New Jersey, U.S.A.
Gills: White, Free
~ Stem: 6cm long, 1.5cm wide, white
~ Cap: 5cm young, estimate 10cm when mature. White with yellow-tan top. Smooth.
~ Spore print color: No idea. The group leader took the shroom.
~ Bruising: none
~ Other information: STRONG SMELL OF BLEACH. I put this mushie up to my nose and inhaled—it cleared out my sinuses for the rest of the day! God help the person who eats this one.

glad you care about proper grammar, but its not important when trying to ID a deadly poisonous mushroom.

if i were typing a monograph then it would matter. :)

I think that there might be a couple of other amanita species that smell like bleach.. not sure though.

Lucky I just smelled the top of the cap. It was like holding my nose up to a bottle of Clorox—maybe worse.

I have smelled this species before and can understand how others would think it smells like bleach.

Your lucky the spores didn’t clear your brain cavity out :)

why wouldn’t you (and the folks on your foray) think that this is bisporigera? everything fits but the smell, and smells are not always reliable.
