Observation 24020: Amanita amerimuscaria Tulloss & Geml nom. prov.
When: 2009-08-05
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found in Zone 15. Only a little thing, or I’d call it A. amerimuscaria. Veil tissue white, cap yellow, everything else white, 3cm tall by maybe 1.5 wide.

Zone 15 contains nearly pure stands of jack pine and pin cherry with a scattering of other pines (P. strobus and/or P. resinosa and P. virginiana) and hardwoods (there’s a fair amount of quaking aspen scattered). Mushrooms mostly appear in the jack pine stands, and this one was no exception.

83% (1)
Recognized by sight: Never found it here (Missouri), but looks this looks like the yellow variety — prominent warts and volva is many scaly rings
