Observation 24072: Xerula furfuracea (Peck) Redhead, Ginns & Shoemaker
When: 2009-08-05
No herbarium specimen

Notes: An unusual-looking mushroom. Tall, but not wide (3cm), solitary, in Zone 45 under mixed mostly-hardwoods, it has interesting gill attachment. The stipe rooted somewhat in the leaf litter, some of which was stuck on pretty tight. No indications of veils.
