Observation 24151: Leccinum Gray

When: 2009-08-09

Collection location: Wayne National Forest, Athens Co., Ohio, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dan Molter (shroomydan)

No specimen available

Notes:
These large boletes were growing under mixed hardwoods on the edge of a grassy bramble-choked area that was once an old homestead. The color change after cutting was slow. Initially, the flesh stained lilac, but after a few minutes the color faded to the dingy gray shown in the bottom photo.
