I found some banningiana

last summer (in one of my usual spots for it) that showed a fair amount of orange in the young caps. I’ll post a few in a new obs.

I have seen lots of this species this weekend and I think it is Amanita banangiana. Or maybe this species which for fun I used to call Amanita caesarea var Ohiensis is something else. I think maybe the color of the buttons is variable with orange red being common.

I don’t think so…

The button of _A. banningiana is never red or orange-red. I think this is the species that we are seeing a lot of in MO from more southern and south-central US states.
