Observation 2458: Psathyrella candolleana (Fr.) Maire

No herbarium specimen

Notes: The size of the caps were all around 2cm, which is unusually small for this species. There were small enough that when I first glanced at them I assumed they were Panaeolus foenisecii. However, on closer inspection the color and stature were wrong and I realized they were Psathyrellas. They had the characteristic fragility, the gills had the right color and they were not at all mottled.


Apologies for the poor image. The camera was in “night” mode when I took this shot. I went back a few days later and they were too beat up to be worth taking.
