Observation 24751: Amanita Pers.
When: 2009-08-26
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Zone 09 yielded up this small brown amanita. It seems a bit dried out and appears to have a thin annulus on the upper stipe (so much for A. vaginata); cup at base but I was unable to get a photograph of it without destroying it, because the area had been nibbled on by something.

It’s too tall and thin to be A. phalloides, and lacks the broad flaring ring. Perhaps you meant it might be from section phalloideae? As I said before, in trying to get the base up and photograph it it fell apart, though there was definitely universal veil material down there.

This was a little guy, 1.5cm high cap maybe with five cm stipe.

has the look of phalloides…

did you get it all up? bulbous base? thin membranous universal veil?
