This was in Zone 11: orange-brown with darker center than margin, gills noticeably off-white, chalky-looking stem with the typical Russula shape, and so on. There was a larger one, about 7cm across with a depressed cap center and much thicker stem, same coloration so I think a mature specimen of the same species. It fell apart on handling so I wound up with no photos of that specimen.
