Bright yellow stipe, depressed center to distinctly scaley cap, growth in woods; congrats, Dan, on having the best image of this mushroom on the Web!

The scruffy cap does not appear in online photos of Hygrocybe spadicea.

The description I can find also say that H. spadicea is a grassland mushroom. I only ever find these in the woods. Last year’s observations of the same species can be seen here:

I have never seen anything like this.
It’s definitely not Hygrocybe spadicea, if Hygrocybe at all. Maybe Camarophyllopsis?

that looks amazingly like one of the tubular chanterelles!
