Bolete Bill Yule was also there to confirm it. I found this about ten years ago (I think a year before the Roody-Bessette bolete came out) and couldn’t identify it but recognized it when I got the book the following year. This one Sandy Shine found, I found another collection the next day of younger specimens. It really is a beautiful bolete.

I would have probably called this B. speciosus although the only one I find is var. brunneus. But on checking Bessette & Roody, I agree with you.
