Observation 25180: Cortinarius (Pers.) Gray

When: 2009-09-13

Collection location: Southwest Barry Co., Michigan, USA [Click for map]

Who: Jon Reck (Jon Reck)

No specimen available

Growing on soil in an area where firewood had been stacked earlier this year. It struck me that if one was careless and/or inexperienced, one might mistake younger examples of this for Lepista nuda.

European C. traganus, camphoratus or alboviolaceus which could be mistaken for Lepista nuda too.
