Observation 25496: Gymnopus luxurians (Peck) Murrill
When: 2009-09-19
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I found this clulster of chestnut brown mushrooms growing in a mound of mulch along the side of a road. They are not very large the caps are cracked the caps and the stipes are striped or striated with the same color as the gills. The imature mushroom has more of a domed cap with some splitting on the edges. The mature version has a convex cap with upturned edges . It appears as if all the caps split and the edges begin to turn up as they mature.
