Notes:
Growing on base of dead oak in mixed hardwood and conifer forest. Clustered, many stalks growing from central base. Bright orange-yellow cap with radial lines, smooth, dry, 2-4 inches diameter. Gills close, attached, same color as cap but darker near stipe. Ring present on stipe. Stipe solid, fibrous. Taste bitter. Smell mild. Spore print rusty brown.
